Saint Andrew’s values music as outreach to the community, and offers concerts that are FREE and open to everyone!

Concerts are typically 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes long, and are for all ages. Please join us!

  Salon à Trois

  Salon à Trois features some composers whose names may be familiar, like Clara Schumann (Robert Schumann’s wife) and Fanny Mendelssohn (Felix Mendelssohn’s sister); some who may be new to you, like Cecile Chaminade (French), Amy Beach (American), and Rebecca Clarke (British); and some who are still living, one of which (Vartan Aghababian) composed trios specifically with our group in mind!
  The repertoire we share will comprise of both duos and trios for Soprano, Viola, and Piano.

  The trio includes Saint Andrew’s member Hillary Nordwell, piano; Ann Moss, soprano; and Justin Ouellet, viola.

  Trio Animé

  The Trio Animé delighted the audience with a concert of chamber music masterpieces, featuring works by Max Bruch and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Trio Animé specializes in works written for this unique and beautiful instrumental combination.

  The trio includes Saint Andrew’s member Leslie Johnson, viola; Eliza Siracusan, clarinet; and Charles Enlow, piano.

  Bells of the Sound Christmas Concert – Christmas Tapestry

  Bells of the Sound wove together the musical voices of friends from around the globe.

  Mark your calendars: Bells of the Sound will return to Saint Andrew’s on December 15, 2024 for a handbell concert filled with holiday music!

  Bells of the Sound is not your typical handbell choir.  Under the direction of Shirley Lindberg, this talented group of musicians is a dynamic force in the handbell world – encouraging composers to create new works and advancing this exciting instrument into the mainstream of entertainment.  They perform on over 7 octaves of Malmark handbells, 5 octaves Malmark Choirchimes, 2 octaves of Schulmerich Silver Melody Bells, and 4+ octaves of Petit and Fritsen handbells – over 200 pieces of equipment and one of the largest sets in the country.  Bells of the Sound will give you a whole new perspective of handbells that you won’t want to miss!

  A Piacere Musica da Camera

  Please join us for a delightful evening of chamber music featuring a quintet of HyeKyung Seo and John Kim, violin; Saint Andrew’s member Dr. Leslie Johnson, viola; Brian Wharton, violoncello; and Dr. Charles Enlow, piano. They will perform Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F major and Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No.2 in A major Op.81, B.155.

  The concert is free and open to all! Invite a friend or two. Free-will donations will be collected at the door.

   

• 2022 - 2023 Concerts

  Music from Montana

  We were pleased to welcome two choirs from the State of Montana to Saint Andrew’s! These two choirs from the Treasure State – the Hellgate High School Chevaliers and Montana State University Montanans – visited Bellevue to perform for the National Association of Music Education’s Northwest Conference, and performed a concert at Saint Andrew’s on Thursday, February 16.
  The Chevaliers from Hellgate High School in Missoula, Montana performed a program called “OMJ! (Oh My Joy!).” This program included a variety of selections about joy, including some pieces our students studied during the COVID shutdown to find and maintain joy. The program included selections by Eric Whitacre, Gerald Finzi, Sarah Quartel, and a piece from the musical Spring Awakening. The Chevaliers are conducted by Ellen McKenzie.

  The Montanans from Montana State University in Bozeman presented a diverse program including music by Eric Esenvalds and the “Wallin’ Jennys.” The group also performed Requiem for a Forest by Montana composer Eric Funk, written for chamber choir and strings. Eric wrote this piece following the 2020 Fire in the Bridger Foothills that burned over 8,000 acres just outside Bozeman. The Montanans, a select vocal ensemble that has toured internationally, is dedicated to the artistic performance of new and established choral literature representative of all genres and stylistic periods.

  As with all concerts at Saint Andrew’s, this concert is FREE and open to the public. Invite a friend or two!

  Bells of the Sound was thrilled to perform for an audience once again! They got everyone into the winter wonderland spirit, and experienced the joy of live handbell music! Mark your calendar to attend their concert at Saint Andrew’s in December 2023!

  Bells of the Sound returned to Saint Andrew’s for its Christmas Concert:  Christmas Past and Present

  Bells of the Sound is not your typical handbell choir. Under the direction of Shirley Lindberg, this talented group of auditioned musicians is a dynamic force in the handbell world – encouraging composers to create new works and advancing this exciting instrument into the mainstream of entertainment. Bells of the Sound has been pioneering handbell artistry and excellence in the Puget Sound area since 1989. Established to give handbell directors an opportunity to ring, Bells of the Sound has matured into a community ensemble dedicated to musical excellence and exciting performance. The group now owns and performs on one of the largest handbell sets in the United States, which includes 7 plus octaves of Malmark handbells and 5 octaves of Malmark Choirchimes. Their four released CDs – Ring We Now Noël, Signatures, The Sound of Christmas and Just Jazz – demonstrate the range of the group and the instrument and feature not only arrangements of well-known tunes, but many original handbell compositions written for contests the group has hosted over the past 12 years. Bells of the Sound will give you a whole new perspective of handbells that you won’t want to miss!

  Seattle Bach Choir performed Rachmaninoff ‘s “All Night Vigil”

  The Seattle Bach Choir performed Sergei Rachmaninoff ‘s “All Night Vigil”. Sergei Rachmaninoff composed the “All Night Vigil” in 1915, on the cusp of the Russian revolution. The piece has been praised as Rachmaninoff’s finest achievement and “the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church.”

  The Seattle Bach Choir performs music that is interesting and beautiful; accessible for audiences who are hearing their first choral music program, and those who are seasoned choral music aficionados.

• The Emmaus Trio

  The Emmaus Trio is Dr. Will Simpson, Karin Islip, and Lauren Root.
  They enjoy performing both standard repertoire works as well as works that are unique and rarely performed.
  Dr. Simpson is the Director of  Music Ministries at Saint Andrew’s.
  Karin Islip and Lauren Root are music teachers on the Eastside and are often heard in the Saint Andrew’s Orchestra and small ensembles.

  In 2016, The Emmaus Trio became Saint Andrew’s Artists-in-Residence. They continue to share their musical gifts with our congregation and community!
